IMPHAL: Thoubal Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted an Anti Drug Awareness Drive cum Medical Camp at MayaiKeithel village in Thoubal District on Thursday.
The drive was planned by Chandrakhong Company Operating Base (COB) in a response to the concerns of villagers, parents and MeiraPaibis expressed during the monthly security meet with respect to the youth of the area under danger of falling prey to the drug menace, a press statement said.
As part of the drive, an interactive lecture on harmful effect of drugs was conducted to generate awareness about the ill effects of drugs and to guide everyone to lead a healthy life. Lecture was followed by an interactive session in which various queries of students were answered. The lecture gave an insight about harmful effects of drugs on the human body. The drive was a success in educating the locals and youth on this sensitive issue and various measures to counter the drug menace, according to the note.
In addition, a medical checkup camp was also organised for the locals in which medical checkup, consultation on various diseases and health related issues was carried out including distribution of free medicines to the needy patients.
On the other hand, Sehlon Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised an awareness lecture on Corona Virus Epidemic at Tuitong village in Chandel District on Friday.
The out break of the virus caused serious concern for public health world wide. Assam Rifles Medical Officer conducted the lecture in which a total of 10 elderly, 16 children and 15 youths of Tuitong village attended the said event. The members of Tuitong Area Youth Association will in turn conduct awareness campaign for villagers in their area of responsibility.
