AMMSO, PSU urge govt on final nod for 4% reservation

TMB Report

IMPHAL: The All Manipur Muslim Students’ Organization (AMMSO) and Pangal Students’ Union (PSU) have urged the State government to give the final nod of approval to their appeal for the extension of 4 percent reservation of Other Backward Classes (OBC) in higher education courses at the upcoming Cabinet meeting.

Briefing media persons at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul on Tuesday the President of AMMSO Pusham Zabed Ahmed expressed that the step should be taken up as a policy of upliftment of the Muslim Pangal students and relieving the inconveniences being faced by the community in the field of education.

According to Ahmed the students from the community are going through difficulties to find substantial representation among the seventeen percent reservation in the OBC category for higher school education. The literacy rate of the community is very low since the Pangal students are unable to attend higher school education, he added.

Further, he talked about the possibility of them embracing the path of agitation if the State government does not emit positive response to the demand of the organisations at the upcoming Cabinet meeting.
