Imphal: The All Manipur Hill Districts MGNREGS Employees Association (AMHDMEA) on Tuesday has warned various forms of agitation, if the state government does not fulfill its demand for appointment of 129 hill districts employees of MGNREGS as regular posts.
Hundreds of protestors participated in a rally which started from Minuthong. It tried to approach CM Bungalow but was stopped on the way by security personnel near Hotel Classic, North AOC.
Speaking to media persons at the side of the protest, Secretary of AMHDMEA Ukhrul Branch, Ch. Ramkei said that the valley district staffs, which were recruited after the hill district staffs, have been appointed as regular staff during the tenure of the then Congress government in the year 2016. So, the hills districts’ staff have been pressurizing and demanding the absorption of their posts as regular government employees for the last many years.
The act of divide and rule policy which is being carried out, meting out unequal treatment to hills and valleys staffs must be reformed at the earliest and appointment of hill district staff as regular staff should be completed. If the state government does not take up concrete toward fulfilling their demands, then different forms of agitations will be compulsorily taken up in the coming days, he asserted.
