IMPHAL: The All Manipur Government Drivers and Technician Association (AMGDTA) Thursday demanded rectification of the non-functional basis scheme from two tier to three tiers system within 20 years, equalization of existing grade pay for grade-III (group C) employees and regularize the work charge/muster roll of driver employees without delay at the earliest.
The statement was made during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club.
Addressing media persons, General Secretary of AMGDTA Ng. Kalachand Singh said that the demands of the drivers’ association is a long running matter and applications have been submitted in the past demanding for upgradation from two tiers to three tiers system. The three tires system has been implemented in all most of the neighboring states and Manipur is one of the few that have been left out, he added.
The drivers’ association been making its demand for a long time but there is no one to hear its voice. The neighboring states’ drivers have already got the three tiers system and they are enjoying the pay structure of the three tiers now. But very unfortunately, Manipur is still enjoying the two tiers system pay structure which has not change till date. All the other grade-III in group C employees which were getting 1,900 grade pay has been increased to 2000. But all the grade-III in group C drivers has been left out during the order issued under 2019 financial year. It has been clearly proven that the state government has demoralized the entire welfare of the drivers. The general secretary said that it has been a long stand demands since 2016 for allowing the grants of benefits of the drivers but no positive response was given till date and also no appointment orders were received.
The demands of the AMGDTA are rectification of non-functional basis schemes from two tiers to three tiers system within 20 years; equalization of existing grade pay for grade-III (group C) employees and regularized the work charge/muster roll of driver employees without delayed.
Mention may be made that the association tried to launch an agitation in the past but the association revoked the agitations as the chief secretary appealed to the association to withdraw the agitation which also said that an amicable solution can brought through dialogue. “If the state government do not fulfill the demands of the association, we will be launching an agitation even can take a step of steering down agitations,” he said.
