KANGPOKPI: Councillors of ADC Sadar Hills continued helping their respective constituencies people with essential commodities during the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown in Kangpokpi District.
Lunthang Haokip, Member ADC Sadar Hills from 10-Gamnom Saparmeina District Council Constituency this morning distribute 5 Kg. of rice each, salt and potato to more 400 less fortunate people from his constituency.
The distribution was conducted at the residence of the Councillor at Saparmeina.
Speaking media persons, Lunthang Haokip, Member ADC Sadar Hills said that the rice was distributed to more than 400 identified less fortunate people by the concerned village chiefs under 10-Gamnom Saparmeina District Council Constituency to make sure that no one goes hungry out of lockdown within the constituency.
He continued that the Government efforts and struggles under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh in combating the deadly pandemic COVID-19 in the state is laudable while the tireless service render by all the frontline workers is excellent and praiseworthy.
He further said that till now District Councils in the hill Districts of the state despite of being the local self Government is yet to be entrusted or assigned any responsibility in connection with combating the pandemic COVID-19 but we have been doing our best in helping the District Administration in to in the fight against the deadly COVID-19.
He also pointed out that since we could deposit and procure Government rice at subsidized rate, we however obtained it in a very high price and distribute to the people considering their plights and grievances.
The ADC Sadar Hills Councillor then appeal the Chief Minister to allow District Council to deposit and procure Government rice as the concerned MLAs, Ministers and the District Administration do under Open Market Sales Scheme so it can reach out to more people and it will be great help for the Government and the people itself.
Meanwhile, the local MDC of Irang Part-II covering more than 50 villages in Twilang area, Bhumi Prasad Vikas Basnet, who is the Executive Member of ADC Sadar Hills reached out to all the villages under his constituency with rice and other essential commodities since few days back.
The ADC Sadar Hills Executive Member, BP. Vikas Basnet today delivered the essential commodities including rice at Maohing village.
The Councilor said that he bought the essential commodities in his own pocket for the welfare of people within Irang Part-II District Council Constituency amid the nationwide lockdown.
He continued that everyone within Irang Part-II constituency will get 5 Kg.of rich each along with other essential items from his side being their representative.
He also said that at Maohing, the rice and other essential items will be distributed at the residence of the village chief.
Meanwhile, Letkhosei Haokip, Chief of Maohing village on behalf of the Irang Part-II villages chief appreciated the local MDC and expressed gratitude for his good samaritan act for the people at this critical juncture.
He said that the ADC Executive Member, BP. Vikas Basnet is a true leader and a representative who always come forward for assistance anytime for his people.
The local youth also lauded the generous contribution of the local MDC and expressed sincere gratitude for his noble act.
