Ccpur: Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian on Wednesday unveiled a monolith on the occasion of the inauguration of a water supply distribution network for promoting tourism in Churachandpur under NESIDS simultaneously held at 5 places in different parts of the state led by the CM of Manipur.
The unveiling program was held at Le Zara Conference Hall, Family Land and attended by the DC and SP and officials from PHED.
Prior to the program, multiple inaugurations in different parts of the state were witnessed live by the participants through internet. EE of PHED Ccpur John Thanglienmang delivered the welcome speech followed by speech by the Agriculture Minister who said that it was a great achievement for the district thanking the department for completion of the project in time.
He said that the CM was planning to inaugurate the project in different parts of the state earlier when the scheme in the district was yet to be completed. He told the CM that he will not be a part for the inauguration because of the incomplete project which led to adjournment of the itinerary of the inauguration.
He also said that under the scheme part of Ccpur town are not included especially those localities in elevated region and they will also be provided the facility under new schemes and the intake point at Lanva river will be a focus now adding that he was thankful that the water supply scheme for the people of Ccpur District HQ can see the light of the day amidst difficulties like lockdown.
The DC of Ccpur on the occasion said that the work was started in February of 2019 and was schedule to be completed in 2 years time but was completed before the stipulated time for which he lauded the Minister for his constant concerns and the officials of PHED. He thanked the department for the continuous water supply that was made to quarantine centers in the present crisis. He also thanked the SP for providing water tankers.
The Rs. 2339.36 lakhs NESIDS funded water supply distribution network for promoting tourism in Ccpur covers 55.68 Km of DI pipe that will be benefitted by 73,014 households the district Headquarters and the water was sourced from Khuga Dam reservoir.
