IMPHAL: The Join Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Government Added School Employees Organization has warned of a suicide agitation in front gate of houses of officers concerned if the state government fails to issue order on implementing their demands for Revision of Pay (ROP) within February 25.
Briefing media person at Manipur Press Club on Wednesday, JAC Spokesperson, Thokchom Koireng said that, added teachers had once celebrated in joy and felt that the administration had compassion with them after the order for RoP was passed recently in the Cabinet meeting on September 15, 2019 by acknowledging the struggles of added primary teachers but it all hopes have crashed due to the silence of the government, accusing the later of negligence. The JAC had been demanding the RoP from 2010 since the time of the Congress regime.
It is very condemnable and unfortunate that the grievances of added teachers have been swept under the carpet for so long, he added.
He added that Chief Minister N.Biren Singh had once a given an assurance for the complete implementation in the meeting of Meeyam Ki Numit on January 15 2020 and JAC also approached the concern education minister who assured the same at the earliest possible time.
He further said that they are facing a lot of inconvenience in maintaining their families and making social contribution. It is extremely contradictory comparing the modern living standard with their low monthly incomes of only ten thousand something which is further shared with non approve added teachers and also no salary were received from the month of October 2019,
The JAC went on to announce the plans for a suicide agitation. The added teachers community covers 584 added schools in total with 699 employed approved teachers.
Secretary of the JAC Mutum Jiten supplemented that if this situation continues the future of the teachers and their families will be gloomy and have no value compared to other teachers who enjoy good salaries. The particular agitation is being planned out of sheer necessity and the community will not provide disturbances to others by calling bandh, blockade, strike etc, he added.
