Thoubal: Acting on a case under FIR No. 14(2)2020 KCG PS u/s 376/417/420/34 IPC, a police team of Kakching Police Station led by Additional SP (L&O)/Kakching under the supervision of SP/Kakching has arrested the absconding accused on Wednesday.
The accused identified as Irom Chingkheinganba Singh @ Krityvas (24), son of Iromo Brojen Singh of Tangjeng Khunou, Maning Leikai in Kakching District was arrested from Ghari Awang Leikai in Imphal West District..
Briefing media persons at the office of SP/Kakching SP Victoria said that on Sunday of February 9, 2020, Kakching Police Station received a report regarding an incident occurred on February 8, 2020 where an unidentified man lured out an innocent girl by befriending through social site Facebook.
The victim girl who came to meet the man cheated the victim and abandoned her at BT Road, Imphal after robbing a sum of Rs. 1,15,000 and the mobile phone of the victim girl, she added.
The SP said that before robbing the victim girl, the accused had sexually assaulted her at an upstair room of one tea hotel at Kakching NIngthou Leikai near Azar Cinema Hall.
After registration of the case of the whole incident, the owner of the hotel identified as Naorem Tombi Devi and her husband Naorem Ranjan Singh of Kakching Ningthou Leikai near Azar Cinema Hall were arrested and their hotel has been temporarily closed to preserve the “Scene of the Crime”, she added.
The SP also said that after getting the CCTV Footage of the unknown person, Kakching District Police made a hectic effort to identify and arrest the accused, conversely the effort was paid off through technological aid and the accused was traced down from his hideout at Ghari Awang Leikai in Imphal West and arrested him.
Form his disclosure, the police team recovered a sum of Rs. 30,000, mobile phone of the victim and some cloths of the victim from his hideout area, she added.
The SP further said that the accused was also arrested in the past in FIR No. 16(8) 2017 SGN PS u/s 4 POCSO Act.
