9 apprehended for illegally unloading and selling petrol during lockdown

Imphal: Amid Covid-19 lockdown Bishnupur Police has apprehended at least nine persons for allegedly unloading and selling of petrol illegally from an oil tanker.

According to police source, on Friday around 11 pm, Bishnupur District Police along with team of Wangoi Police Station under the command of OC/Nambol Police Station Inspector Subhaschandra K and under the overall supervision of SP/Bishnupur Priyadarshini Laishram conducted raid at the premises of one James Kangujam, son of K. Bijoy Singh of Waheng Khuman Maning Leikai and detected unloading and selling of petrol from an Oil tanker Tata Truck.

The police team immediately rounded up the nine persons along with barrels, jerrycans etc. and the Oil tanker Tata Truck bearing registration number MN05C 0364.

The apprehended persons are identified as Konjengbam Bidyasagar (24 years), son K. Ibocha Singh of Waheng Khuman Maning Leikai; Khomdram Chandramani Singh (21), son of Kh. Ras Singh of Nambol Khabi Awang Leikai; Irom Birjit Singh (21), son of I. Manitomba Singh of Nambol Khabi Awang Leikai; Leimapokpam Somananda Singh (36), son of (L) L. Kaoba Singh of Waheng Khuman Maning Leikai (Club Secretary); Leimapokpam Ajit Singh (32), son of L. Achou Singh of Waheng Khuman Maning Leikai (Publicity); L. Bogekumar (45), son of (L) L. Dojo Singh of Waheng Khuman Maning Leikai (Vice President); Kangujam Ranjitkumar Singh (30), son of (L) K. Inakhunba Singh of Waheng Khuman Maning Leikai; Leimapokpam Koireng (35), son of (L) L. Ningthouba Singh of Waheng Khuman Maning Leikai and Kangujam James Singh (27), son of K. Bijoy Singh of Waheng Khuman Maning Leikai.

The seized oil tanker Tata Truck and the apprehended persons have been taken to Wangoi Police station for further necessary action.
