Imphal: With an aim to save and preserve wild birds and animal and the surrounding environment and as part of the continuous drive carried out by Wildlife & Biodiversity Conservation Committee (WBCC) Manipur, has seized 8 bird nets set around different areas of Ikop Pat to catch birds and saved 2 birds that were stuck in the sets, said a press release by WBCC, on Saturday.
The press release issued by General Secretary WBCC, Manipur Romesh Ningthoujam stated that the seized nets were destroyed in front of the public while the saved birds have been release after finding a safer place for the birds.
The press release also stated that WBCC is a committee formed by different likeminded youths from different districts of the state and appeals the public to support the committee to continue to what they are doing for the welfare of the state.
The press release further stated that though there are publicity to save and preserve wild birds and animals and environment through Television, Radio and daily newspaper, without any awareness the publicity will not help to understand its value.
Thus, the authority concerns needs to organise awareness program on saving and preserving wild birds and animals and the environment, regularly.
Only after the people came to understand the value of the environment, the priceless environment and wild living will be saved, the press release states.
