7th Convocation of NIT, Manipur organised

IMPHAL: The seventh annual convocation of the National Institute of Technology, Manipur was organized at its premises at Langol here on Monday.

During his convocational address Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan congratulated the passed out students who have collected their degrees in Btech, MTech and PHD after successfully completing the rigorous schedule and stepping into their professional lives.

He praised the NIT, Manipur for making rapid progress during the ten years of its establishment towards fulfilling its vision of being an academy of excellence in sciences and technology, knowledge creation and innovation. This institute will play a main role in producing skilled manpower resources to meet the challenges of the 21st century, the MP said.

In recent years the NDA government has attached highest priority in skill India. Many schemes were launched to promote the youths for bringing improvement in technology, techniques and other applications of activities. The institute boasts of an efficient faculty of a highly talented pool of people from across the country who are ready to develop trained engineers, scientists and entrepreneurs. The goals of being one of the best engineering institutes in the country is under good hand, Dr RK Ranjan said.

 He added that there is innermost scope to utilize the resources in a sustainable manner in order to build a strong economy in the state and uplift the quality of life of the people here. There is a need for their entrepreneurial spirit to be awakened and there is a need for them to be guided to find their paths. NIT will play a critical role in this respect, he said.

He said he feels that this institute will certainly be able to provide landscape factor technology of northeast as well as of Manipur. He said during his talk with the director of the institute they discussed the instability of the rock structure and landscape at the NIT complex in Manipur. The director has a lot of dreams and the faculty members have a lot of dreams. But the present available technology is not suitable for construction of multi-storied buildings there. We have to find the right technology under such circumstances for making infrastructural development of the institute, he added.
