IMPHAL: With 88 more individuals including 73 locals with no history of travelling outside the state testing positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the state’s total count of confirmed Covid-19 positive cases has risen to 3941.
Of the fresh positive cases, 75 infected persons are civilians while 13 belonged to the Central Armed Police Force. Of the 75 infected civilians, 73 persons do not have significant travel history except for two from Imphal east and Kamjong districts, according to Covid Common Control Room Spokesperson Dr Khoirom Shasheekumar Mangang.
10 samples each were detected positive for the deadly virus at VRDL of RIMS and Babina Diagnostic, followed by 5 samples at JNIMS lab, 50 at Imphal West Rapid Antigen test, two at Raj Medicity TruNat and one at Shija Hospital.
Of the 90 civilians tested positive in the last 24 hours, Imphal West district alone reported 55 positive cases while 2 cases from Thoubal, one each from Senapati, Tamengong and Kamjong, 8 from Imphal East, three from Noney and four from Bishnupur. The infected patients will be shifted to COVID care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the statement of CCR.
The Control Room further stated that 33 Covid patients were discharged from CAPF (20), JNIMS (2), Covid care centre Meitram (6) and Ukhrul (5) after they were found Covid free on RT PCR test.
Of the 3941 cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 positive cases, 3065 belong to the general population while 889 to CAPF.
With 2155 out of 3941 Covid-19 patients having recovered, the State’s total count of active COVID-19 cases stands at 1775, thus recovery rate pegging at 54.68 perecnt.
Of the 1775 active cases, 1055 belong to the general population and 719 to Security personnel.
On the other hand, one 60 year old man from Nongmeibung Purana Rajbari in Imphal East with comorbid health conditions succumbed to Covid-19 at JNIMS on Tuesday morning. The man is said to have been suffering from multiple illnesses including BP and heart problems. With this, the state’s Covid-19 related death cases have risen to 12.
