68 non-local labourers held in Jiribam without ILP, provided with temporary permit

IMPHAL: As a part of follow up action of the implementation of the month long Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in Manipur, the District Police Jiribam on Saturday conducted a mass drive in different parts of Jiribam and detected as many as 68 non-locals who entered the state without ILP pass.

According to M Mubi Singh, SP Jiribam district Police, the mass drive was carried out in five groups led by H. Basulal Singh, MPS. Addl SP (LO), Jiribam, Th. Sanatomba Singh, MPS. SDPO Jiribam, Sub-lnspector T. Rameshwor Singh, ASI Y. Samarendra Singh and ASI S. Suuraj Singh of Jiribam Police Station respectively under the supervision SP Jiribam.

The organized teams launched muss drive in different areas to verify the labourers, tenants etc. who have been working and taking shelter at different worksites, base camps, rents viz. Bharatita Infra Projec Ltd, Premkumar Co Ltd, Rahi Infratech Ltd, NHIDCL, Godowns of FCI, Cement and others, Rented houses from 9.30 AM this morning.

During the drive, about 300 labourers and tenants are verified and out of which 68 non local labourers who do not possess any kind of ILP were sorted out and they were issued Temporary ILP at the spot with due verification. The managers/supervisors/in charge of the companies/Godowns were directed to obtain appropriate longer permit from the concerned authority as described in the ILP guideline.

The SP also appealed to all the railway construction company authorities, Godown owners and landlords to obtain ILP mandatorily to avoid any legal consequence.
