IMPHAL: Altogether, 38, 8664 candidates will be appearing in the upcoming High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) commencing from February 17 to March 5, 2020 at 140 centres. Out of the total candidates, 19, 040 are males and 19, 624 are females.
Addressing media persons at BOSEM, Babupara on Thursday, Director of Education(s) Th. Kirankumar said that the upcoming HSLC examination will be conducted at 140 board centres and 38, 664 candidates will be appearing in the examination. In order to conduct the examination in a smooth and fair, the related appointed officials are namely, Supervising Officers (SOs), Officers-in charge of exam centre (OCs), Assistant Officers-in charge(AOCs), Supervising-Invigilators (SIs) and Flying Squad.
The answers scripts of the examination have reached in most of the centres except in few centres, the remaining centres will be receiving the answers scripts by tomorrow and also all the confidential paper will be reaching before the day of the examination in every centre. The director appealed to the entire stakeholders especially to all the parents/guardians of the candidates not to panic and said that the exam will be conducted in a smooth way.
He requested all the stakeholders particularly, teachers, parents and other related individuals of the students to support in order to ensure the conduct of the examination in a smooth and peaceful way in every centre and not to support the use of any unfair means and malpractices during the examination. As there were many unfortunate incidents occurred in the previous year like imposters sitting in the exam on behalf of the candidates. If such incident is detected by the board members or by other officials of the exam, the said centre can be dismissed and various actions will be taken up by the board, said Th. Kirankumar.
There are many unfortunate incidents that occur between the officials and flying squad of the examination with the locality clubs or people for expelling the students for using unfair means and malpractices but in some places we have received good support from the locality and clubs of the respective centre. So let us all pray and prepare that such kind of unwanted incident does not happen again in the upcoming examination. Concluding his speech he said that we will try at our best level to declare the results at the earliest.
Controller of Examination cum Secretary of BOSEM Dr. Chithung Mary Thomas said that the board has decided and change the format of form fill-up from manual to online. The form fill-up has totally closed on January 28, 2020. The change in format of the answer script are that, the answer scripts has change from landscape to portrait; margins are drawn and lines for all subject except Maths; graphs and amps will be inserted and watermarks of respective subjects are embossed on science and social science answer scripts. She appealed to all the candidates to write the answer in the watermarks of respective subjects and said if any students found writing the answer of history in the watermarks of Physic than the board will not be evaluate, said Dr. Chithung Mary Thomas.
She appealed to all the candidates to be careful in filling up the name and roll numbers adding as in the past CCTV camera will be installed in every evaluation centre and at the same time evaluation on capping on the maximum numbers of answer scripts to be corrected in a day shall not be exceed 50 scripts for 100 marks; 100 scripts for 28/27 and 26 marks and 80 scripts for 50 marks.
In conclusion, she said that the answer keys will be uploading on the website of BOSEM after the exam is over and before evaluation begins, the board will be giving 3 days for public to make a claim and objections by any individuals by giving proper and legitimate reasons and proofs, reasonable claims will be accepting by the board. The scanned answer scripts of top 10 position holders and those students who secured highest marks in every subjects will be uploading in the website of BOSEM in the interest of public. As done in the previous year different subjects namely, science and social science paper will be evaluating separately. She extended her warm wishes to all the students to prepare well and not to indulge in cheating and other malpractices.
