Imphal: As a part of security measures taken up by State police department for enforcement of total lockdown and curfew and also to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, crack down on violators of curfew and lockdown was continued on Thursday.
At least 374 violators of curfew and lockdown were detained along with 267 vehicles with imposition of fine of a sum of at least Rs. 16000 during a drive conducted on Thursday at different districts by the respective district police.
In Thoubal District, police detained 85 violators of curfew and lockdown from different areas of the district. They were produced before the Executive Magistrates concerned and bound down u/s 107 CrPC.
In Imphal East District, the police detained 108 numbers of vehicles for not possessing curfew passes and violating the lockdown imposed in the state during various drives conducted at different points the district. A sum of Rs. 10800 was imposed upon them as fine and the vehicles were handed over to concerned Magistrate.
In Churachandpur District, 98 persons (88 males and 10 females) and 92 Vehicles (73 -Two Wheelers, 2-Three Wheelers and 17-Four Wheelers) were detained for violation of lockdown and non-possession of curfew passes.
All the detained persons were later released on PR Bond and Bail Bond along with the seized vehicles after verification, proper briefing and strict warning.
In Bishnupur District, police detained 67 curfew and lockdown violators and 48 vehicles from different locations of the district. A total of 31 violators were produced before the Sub District Magistrate and bound down u/s 107 CrPC. and collected a total of Rs. 5200 as fine.
Meanwhile, ADGP (LO) in a press release stated that on Thursday, State Police has detained 374 curfew and lockdown violators with 219 vehicles and were produced before the concern Magistrate and collected fines of Rs. 13100.
