THOUBAL: At least 23 hostel boys of a private school, the Peace and Freedom Academy in Thoubal Haokha, ran away from hostel on Wednesday. However, CWC Thoubal safely rescued the students and handed them over to their family members after proper counseling on Thursday.
According to The Morning Bell sources, the boy students who had ran from the hostel are the students of the school who ought to appear in the upcoming Class X (metric) examination 2020.
The source added that there are total 58 hostellers at the school out of which 33 are boys while 25 are girls.
Addressing media persons in connection with the incident, Member of Manipur Commission For Protection of Child Rights Kh. Jitendro said that it came to light that the students had secretly ran away from the hostel on Wednesday around 10:30 pm and hold the night somewhere in Bengi-Pechi area and later on Thursday they came to Thoubal Athokpam by hiring a vehicle.
He said, upon receiving the news, Manipur Commission for Child Rights immediately informed the Child Line Thoubal DCPU Thoubal and Thoubal Police Station and the joint team safely rescued the boy students from Thoubal Athokpam Mayai Leikai at around 1 pm.
Jitendro said that the boy students were produced before CWC Thoubal and later handed over to their family members after conducting medical check-up and proper counseling.
Further actions and initiatives to be taken up have been handed over to CWC Thoubal and DCPU, he added.
Officials of ZEO Thoubal also participated at the handing over of the boy students who ran away from the hostel to their family members.
Meanwhile, replying to media query for the possible reasons for running away from the hostel, one of the boy students replied that they were unable to bear the excess actions of the hostel warden while treating the hostellers and ultimately they took the decision to run away from the hostel.
