20 year old booked for visually explicit video calls

IMPHAL: Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West remand to 20 years old habitual offender taken into seven day police custody remand till 4 days police custody remand till February 10 for investigation under IT Act allegedly for making visually explicit video call made through Whatapps to eight employees of one private hospital and research centre located under Imphal West district.

The alleged accused was identified as Ngangbam Bony, son of Dhamaraj of Sagolband Mabudhou Mantri Leikai was produced by the IO of the case Rattana Ngasepam Additional SP investigative unit crime against Women Imphal west along with a prayer with four days police custody till February,10 for further investigation of the case.

The IO of the case through APP submitted that the case was registered yesterday at around 3 pm on receipt of written complaint lodged by the medical officer of the private hospital and research centre stating that eight employees of the private hospital raised an issue of visually explicit video call made through Whatapps and during late night of February 4 from an unknown mobile number.

During the course of investigation after thorough analysis of the unknown number by using techniques the user of the mobile number was able to be traced and after investigation the alleged accused was arrested in connection with the case at around 6 pm on February 6.

During preliminary interrogation the alleged accused revealed that he is working at mobile accessories and cassette shop and recently one of the staff of the private hospital and research centre deposited his mobile phone handset to him to replace new display.

The alleged accused further revealed that on February 4 night, he inserted his sim card to the mobile handset which had been deposited to replace a new display and made video calls to some ladies in the contact list of the mobile phone.

The alleged accused also disclosed that he showed his private part to those he had made a video call. It was also revealed by the accused that he was earlier arrested by Singjamei Police in such a case and was in judicial custody remand recently.

It is said that the IO of the case prayed that through interrogation is highly required and prayed for 4 days police custody remand in connection with the case.

The court on perusal of the police prayer was satisfied with the police prayer and thus remanded the alleged accused into police custody remand till February 10, 2020.
