Imphal: Creating an alarming situation in the State despite making concerted efforts to normalize the traumatic second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, altogether 20 persons succumbed to the viral infection in a single day while 872 persons from the general population and two personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were detected as new positive cases out of 6673 samples tested on Friday clocking a positivity rate of 13.10 percent.
According to Covid-19 Common Control Room, the positive persons were tested at RIMS (42), JNIMS (32), District Hospitals (643) and other testing centres (157). The positive cases from the general population are from Imphal East (171), Imphal West (252), Thoubal (49), Bishnupur (137), Kakching (75), Ukhrul (13), Churachandpur (84), Chandel (16), Senapati (13), Tamenglong , Tengnoupal (2), Jiribam (4), Noney (19), Pherzawl (1), Kangpokpi (2) and Kamjong (1). All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 20 deaths in the last 24 hours. The District wise distributions are Imphal West (4), Imphal East (5), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (5), Ukhrul (1), Jiribam () and Chandel (1). The cumulative number of deaths is 1541. Out of the 20 deaths, 14 persons had co-morbidities and only four of them were vaccinated (first dose).
On Friday, a total of 1014 persons were discharged after recovering from the infection. They are from Home Isolation (436), RIMS (44), JNIMS (13), CCCs (174) and CHICs (347), the control room conveyed in a press release.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 97,698 (General Population – 93,721 and Central Security Personnel – 3,977) while the cumulative number of recovered cases is 85,422 (General Population – 81,502 and Central Security Personnel – 3,920). The number of active cases is 10,735 (General Population -10,683 and Central Security Personnel – 52). The recovery rate stood at 87.43 percent.
Informing that a total of 2246 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 308 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the State In the last 24 hours, it disclosed that the doses of Covid-19 vaccine administered on Thursday is 14980 while the cumulative number of doses is 1290134 (first dose – 1088797 and second dose – 201337).
