IMPHAL: The Department of Science and Sports Science Manipur University, Canchipur has successfully concluded the two day Webinar workshop on adventure sports which was jointly organized by the Fit India Campaign Committee and Fit India Club Manipur University in collaboration with Indian Mountaineering Foundation, North East Zone.
The workshop was held on 7 – 8 July, 2020 at the university.
In a press release of Adventure Sports, MU signed by coordinator adventure sports Dr. E. Santosh Singh it was said that the Webinar workshop was attended by around 2000 participants from all over the country. The main ideas and objective of the two day Webinar Workshop on Adventure Sports were to provide a carefully planned stimulating environment which will help each individual and excellent foundation for creative learning, he added.
The Vice Chancellor of Manipur University Jarnail Singh who was also the chief guest of the inaugural function expressed his happiness that adventure sports are exciting experience which is typically some potential for physical danger and participating in extreme sports. He rooted for activities involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or nature. The activities perceived as having a high level of inherent danger or those activities which often involve speed, height, a high level of physical exertion and highly specialized gear are called adventure sports, said Vice Chancellor.
Dr. L. Santosh Singh expressed that adventure sports must be among primary activities for each and everyone in the society and also it is an exciting activity and wonderful life experience while addressing the keynote address at the workshop.
He continued to mention that adventure sports comprises of very wide range of activities that includes Mountaineering, Rock Climbing, Trekking, Skiing, River Rafting, Parasailing, Paragliding, Scuba diving etc which are undertaken at various places but depend on situation, climate, environment and nature.
