Imphal: A two day national conference on “Convergence of Ethical Values of Education Into Practice: An Outlook to Professional Ethics” organised by the Institute of Rural Education, College of Teacher Education, Wangjing kicked off at the auditorium hall of IRE complex Wangjing in Thoubal District on Wednesday.
It may be mentioned that the main aim of the conference is to improve the teacher competences and practices for ethical education.
Director, Netaji Subash Open University, Kolkatta Professor Atindranath (A. N. Dey); Principal, IRE College of Teachers Education N. Rajivkumar and Executive member, NCTE-ERC, Department of Chemistry, MU Professor Naorem Rajmohon attended the inaugural function as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Speaking at the inaugural function Principal Rajivkumar informed the gathering that the conference was mainly targeted for BeD trainee students who had been studying across the state.
“The conference is surely going to be a platform for interaction of myriad ideas amongst the academicians, aspiring researchers and learners and other participants from various institutions of different corners of our country”, he hoped and added that the conference would discuss the ethics education in schools.
Professor Atindranath highlighted the relationship between education and ethics in teaching profession and added that ethics in education were applicable on both the instructors as well as the students.
“The purpose of ethics education is not to simply study ethics for its own sake”, said Professor Atindranath. He also spoke about the importance of ethics education at length.
Professor Rajmohon maintained that education is also a fundamental process of human life. Thus, in education ethics has a very important and effective role and in order to be a good human being, ethics should be placed as a course in educational system, he emphasized.
Professor Rajmohon also talked about some famous scientist being focussed on ethics and work culture.
More than 100 participants took part at the conference which will conclude on Thursday.
