1st North East Autumn Festival begins

Ukhrul: The 1st edition of North East Autumn Festival organised by Chiko Adventures began on Thursday at Jorcheng, Lunghar. 

Jorcheng is a scenic mountain area just 21 km away from Ukhrul Town, on the way towards Shirui Village, home of the world famous Shirui Lily. 

Attractions such as indigenous food and items from local and North East areas are available. Games including top spinning and bamboo climbing competitions will also be held. Continental, Chinese and western food are also available. Family and kids games such as Burma Bridge, Trampoline, Caving and more can be enjoyed at the festival. 

Well known Tangkhul fusion folk music artists like Guru Rewben, folk artist Guru Rawung, folk art metal Featherheads Haikui, famous fusion rappers from Nagaland- Moko koza, JC kitts and DJ Bungba performed on the Rhythm Night opening. Moko Koza performed some of his recently released music album titled ‘Naga Manu’. 

Shangcham Shangjam, one of the organizers, informed that they want this festival to be a tourism festival. “Just like Jorcheng we have lots of hidden beautiful places in NE which we want to promote through this festival,” said Sangjam. He also said that they want the festival to be a destination travel festival in the future. 

“We welcome everyone to come enjoy the music, the exotic NE food, adventure and the beautiful Jorcheng in Ukhrul”, he added. The 1st edition of North East Autumn Festival will start from October 20 and will continue till October 26.
