1st MR personnel remanded to police custody for impersonating inspector of CBI

IMPHAL: 45 year old riflemen of 1st battalion Manipur Rifle Md. Azad Khan was on Tuesday taken into five days’ police custody remand till July 3, 2020 after he arrested on the charges of impersonating as an inspector of CBI Anti-Corruption Cell.

According to the reliable information, a written complaint was received by CBI Anti-Corruption Cell Imphal against an unknown person for impersonating as L. Jayenta CBI Inspector and threatening some private persons.

As no such person namely L. Jayenta was working as Inspector in CBI the said written complaint was forwarded by head of Branch CBI ACB Imphal to SP. Imphal East to book the impersonator as such impersonation is not only a serious criminal offence but the impersonators have badly tarnished the image and reputation of the CBI.

The source further said that, acting swiftly a team of Imphal east district yesterday arrested the alleged accused/impersonator Md. Azad Khan, son of Abdul Rahaman of Yairipok Tulihal Toupokpi who is currently serving as a rifleman of 1st Battalion Manipur Rifle.

The accused was today produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East and taken into 5 days’ police custody remand till July 3.

The source further stated that incidentally the alleged accused/ impersonator was deputed to work along with CBI team investigating cases in Manipur.
