14 more from CAPF tests positive for COVID-19; 20-year old becomes youngest casualty

IMPHAL: A 20-year old girl died on Sunday becoming the youngest casualty of Covid-19 in the state and bringing the total number of deceased from the contagion to seven.

Besides, in the past twenty-four hour circle, 61 persons, 25 males and 36 females, from general population and 14 persons from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases at the VRDLS of RIMS (47), JNIMS (9), and Babina Diagnostic Centre (5).

In the official press release, Dr. Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, the Additional Director & Spokesperson Health Department, Manipur, announced that the deceased was from Chandel District with a temporary address at Imphal East and she expired due to co-morbid health conditions and Covid-19.                                     

The district wise distribution of the new cases was Imphal West (42), Thoubal (9), Kangpokpi (5), Senapati (3), Churachandpur (1) and Chandel (1). All (except 9 from Thoubal, 1 from Senapati, 1 from Kangpokpi and 37 from Imphal West) do not have significant travel history. Five from Imphal West are under investigation.

They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, stated a bulletin from the Covid-19 Common Control Room.

Meanwhile, during the past twenty-four hours, 38 persons were discharged after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. One of them was released from RIMS, 2 from JNIMS, 18 from CCCS of Meitram, 3 from Thoubal, 4 from Kakching, 2 from Moreh and 8 from RD Wing.

With today’s new cases and release, the cumulative number of positive cases is 2831. The numbers of active and recovered cases are 1087 and 1737 respectively. The recovery rate is 61.07 percent. The cumulative Covid-19 related deaths is 7.
