IMPHAL: The 125th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Acharya Vinoba Bhave was observed by Manipur Sarvodaya Mandal at Langol on Friday.
Former minister of Manipur Kh Jibon, secretary of CPI state unit Laishram Sotin, and president of Manipur Library Association Kangjam Chaoba were the presidium members. During his keynote address TD Ngagomba stated that Acharya Vinoba Bhave had dedicated his life for his country and countrymen. In addition, he was a leader who was committed to working for the welfare of the poor cultivators and labourers in rural areas.
In his speech secretary of CPI (M) state unit Ksh Santa stated that according to the understanding of Vinoba Bhave, the teachings of all the religions in the world were built on a secular view based on love for one another and oneness. However, the religious fanatics who are contesting that their religion is superior to the others are not just the enemies of the country but of humanity. We should stop their spread, he said.
Leader of the same party Sarat Salam described Vinoba Bhave as a leader of modern India who was bipartisan and worked for the poor and the marginalized citizens.
The rendition of Joy Jagat, a favorite song of the leader, was a major highlight of the event.
