IMPHAL: The 11th World Bamboo Day, 2020 celebration was jointly organized by South Asia Bamboo Foundation (SABF) and Manipur Industries Union (MIU) at Crafts complex Patsoi Part-1 located under Imphal West district on Friday.
In a press release, President of MIU Chingtam Luwang expressed unhappiness for not including Manipur state in the list of 22 bamboo clusters recently, and said that the state government has not noticed the aspects of development of bamboo in the state.
Further, the retired General Manager of DIC L. Dwijamani said that in order to promote the value of bamboo, it is needed at this time to develop more entrepreneurs’ in order to build up productive industries to preserve bamboo in the state.
Environmentalist Rajesh Salam also expressed that Manipuri bamboo policy is yet exceptional, but there is a lapse in pursuing the accurate policy due to the cause of some destabilized structure.
The function was participated by many environmentalists, bamboo entrepreneurs’ and bamboo sympathizers. Many items made of bamboo were displayed on the day.
