117 individuals discharged against 49 fresh cases; total positive count nears 5,000-mark

IMPHAL: With 49 more fresh positive cases for the contagion in the last 24 hours, the state’s total confirmed Covid-19 cases has spiked to 4925 while 117 have been discharged during the last 24 hour cycle.  

Of the 49 fresh cases, 40 cases are locally transmitted. 

According to a statement issued by Dr Shasheekumar Manganga, Additional Director Health Department and Spokesperson Covid Common Control Room,  fresh cases including 40 from general population (25 males, 15 females)  and 9 personnel belonging to Central Armed Police Forces were tested positive for Covid-19 in the state during the last 24 hours when samples were tested at VRDL JNIMS (8), JNIMS RAT (1), RIMS (2) Imphal West RAT (8), Bishnupur RAT (2), Ukhrul RAT (1), Babina Diagnostic (24), Thoubal RAT (3).

Of the 40 civilians tested positive in the last 24 hours, Imphal West district reported 19 positive cases while 6 cases from Imphal East District, four from Bishnupur district, one each from Chandel district and Senapati district, two from Ukhrul district and seven from Thoubal district. All the infected patients will be shifted to COVID care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the statement of CCCR.

Meanwhile, 117 Covid-19 patients were discharged from CAPF (70), CCC Unacco (47) after they were found Covid-19 free on RT PCR test.

With as many as 3002 Covid-19 patients having recovered and been discharged, the State’s total count of active COVID-19 cases stands at 1905. Recovery rate pegs at 60.95 percent by Thursday, informed the statement.

The total active cases include 1030 general population and 875 Security personnel.
