10-day long Mahakala Festival kicks off at Brahmapur Kala Sangam

IMPHAL, FEB 2: As a part of the ongoing golden jubilee celebration of Brahmapur Kala Sangam, Imphal, a 10 day long Mahakala Festival began at the auditorium of Brahmapur Kala Sangam, Imphal at Brahmapur Aribam Leikai from today.

The function was attended by Yaiskul MLA Th Satyabrata as Chief guest while Gurumayum Priyobrata Sharma, President, Brahmapur Kala Sangam, Imphal while Smt. L. Inunganbi Devi, Corporator, Imphal Municipal corporation ward no 18 attended as president and guest of honor respectively.

Speaking to the gathering, MLA Th Satyabrata while noting the grievances and the plight the Artistes are experiencing said that the government and officials of the department concerned need to work with a strong commitment to promote the theatre and other Art forms. Art and Culture department requires committed officers who can reflect suitable welfare programmes and aspiration of the artistes while formulating the budget.

The MLA wished a grand success of the festival.

L. Inunganbi Devi, Corporator, IMC lauded the founder members and the organizers for their committed effort to make the golden jubilee celebration a grand success.

She also drew attention of the local MLA to guide the Brahmapur Kala Sangam while seeking financial assistance from the government to promote theatre and assured fullest support from her side too.

The Mahakala festival will conclude on 12 February. As many as 10 leading theatre Organisation in the state are participating in the festival.

The golden jubilee celebration which was inaugurated on 13th October, 2019 will concluded on 9th March, 2020.
